Find Me On

Alas, how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. — Francis P. Church, New York Sun

Cecil B. DeMille on freedom from the state

Next week is Easter.

When I think of Easter it always reminds me of The Ten Commandments. I can remember my mother making us watch it on TV every year.

Now of course, I have it on DVD. Although the TV version is 3 hours long, they had to cut a lot out to keep it to the three hours. Here is the beginning of the movie as it appeared in theaters. This of course was cut out for television broadcast, but here it is on the DVD.

Are men properties of the state or are they free souls under God? This same battle continues throughout the world today.
– Cecil B. DeMille

Here is the opening credits. This music gives me chills every time I hear it.
