I think I liked the original Apprentice more than I like the Celebrity Apprentice. Still, I managed to catch every episode this season including the three hour finale.
I have to say I was disappointed to see that Joan Rivers won over Annie Duke. Joan was rude and obnoxious and her daughter Melissa acted like a spoiled brat the entire time. Both Joan and Melissa were constantly name-calling and resorting to personal attacks — none of which would have been tolerated in the “real world”. But I guess that is what makes it good television.
Joan and Melissa would constantly whine about Annie being “manipulative”, “two-faced”, and sometimes “mean”. But I thought Annie was just being disciplined in her approach to managing each project. I’ve had way tougher bosses than Annie — not to mention a few like Joan and Melissa. I didn’t see Annie as anything other than a tough boss trying to get stuff done.
The unfortunate thing was that Annie ultimately lost because of Joan’s bad behavior! Joan is the one that made the event planner quit. Although you have to wonder if that was the real reason the event planner quit. In every final episode of the Apprentice there is always a “monkey wrench” thrown in at the final hour. I suspect the event planner was going to “quit” whether Joan insulted them or not.
In the end, Joan raised $150,830 for the charity she supports. Annie raised more than twice that amount for her charity. Annie raised $465,725!
