Rockets Red Glare

Today was a beautiful day! We did not hang out in town for the parade. Instead we went out to the barn to check on Elle. I then made an awesome chicken and corn on the cob on the grill for dinner. After dinner we headed down town for the carnival. The bumper cars and the doughboys were great, but the “haunted house” was pretty lame.

After the carnival we headed over to Crescent Park Carousel.
Cresent Park Carousel

When we got back from the Carousel, we sat on the front lawn and watched the fireworks. The weather was great; warm with a light breeze; enough to keep the mosquito away.

So as the fireworks here are starting to fade here, let me leave you with with this to ponder…

On September 17, 1787 at the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Benjamin Franklin was approached by a Mrs. Powell as he left the Hall. Mrs. Powell asked Benjamin Franklin, “What kind of government have you given us, Dr. Franklin?”

Benjamin Franklin replied: “A republic, if you can keep it.”
