Find Me On

Working around the house

Well it finally stopped raining today. The forecast is calling for thunderstorms the rest of the week. So I had decide which outdoor job to do today — cut the grass or sanding the rails on the deck.

Cutting and trimming my lawn takes about three hours depending on how many times I have to stop to bag the clippings. With all the rain we’ve gotten lately the grass has gotten pretty tall. With that much grass there would be at least 8-10 bags of clippings.

I wasn’t sure how long sanding the rails down would be. But I figured it would take at least that amount of time. Most of the paint it peeling off on its own, but in some of the places it is difficult to get the sander in there and it has to be done by hand.

I decided to sand down the rails. I’ve been putting it off for too long now and now that I have free time on my hands, I figured now the best time to get it done.

It didn’t take that long actually. But it seemed a lot longer in the heat. It was really hot today and very humid. When I was done I was covered in white dust. I probably should have worn a mask because I could “taste” the dust when I was done.
