I look forward to this time of the year. I love the fall and October, November, and December are my favorite months. Around the first of October I start planning for Halloween. No, I don’t deck my house out in haunted house style like the thousands that do it these days. But I look forward to carving my jack-o-lantern each year. Every year I come up with something new. Here are last year’s pumpkins.
I just took a few pictures of my 2009 Jack-O-Lanterns. Here are a few. I’ll take some more on Halloween.

Speaking of decorating your house for Halloween. Is it me or are people getting a little out of control with the spooky house and blow-up decorations. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve done my fair share of decorating for Halloween. When I was a kid, mother used to go all out for Halloween.
My mother was WAY a head of her time. I remember back in the early 70s our Mom would turn our front yard and the living room into a haunted mansion. Back then you couldn’t buy the decorations or and props they have today. She had to make everything! She was very creative. I think that’s where I get my creativity.
Our Mom would make tombstones out of cardboard boxes, paint them, and write cleaver rhymes on each fake headstone. She would turn the piano into a coffin and was making fake brains out of jello decades before anyone ever conceived of it. I remember she would turn comforter batting into cobwebs and made her own body parts out of surgical gloves, wet sand, and ketchup!
