America is a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy

I’ve posted on this before, but I think it is worth posting again. Too many people are under the misconceptions that the United States of America is a Democracy. It is NOT! The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic. You know, “…and to the Republic, for which it stands, One Nation, Under God, with Liberty and Justice for All!”

The Founding Fathers knew that Democracy is a horrible system of government. This is exactly why they created a Constitutional Republic with balanced sharing of powers. These checks and balances were designed to keep the progression of tyranny in check. For now…

    This is one of my pet peeves too! I always love the look on the person’s face when I ask them to recite the pledge of allegiance and they get to, “And to the Republic, for which … HUH!?!” :-)
